About this artwork
CIRCUS: a series of works centered around the Guinean artists of the Baobab Circus. I sought to immerse myself in their very precise gestures, first by photographing them in action. Then I reworked the photos digitally and with paint to create a series of pigment prints between mysteries and presences. I created this work to capture the energy and vitality of a moment of intense performance, using vivid contrasts to reveal the strength and passion…
of each gesture. The intertwined black lines emerge like heartbeats, while the touches of orange bring warmth and vitality.
