About this artwork
In some of my paintings, I draw the signs of an imaginary script.
It sometimes happens that some of these signs, by virtue of their momentum, their rhythm, their movement, can be translated into sculptures.
This is the case with this piece, whose design is directly derived from a painting in the "Attempt at Writing" series.
Carved from a single piece of solid ash, this piece was sculpted, then burned and inked.
SIGNE I is presented on a simple… base, made of black lacquered steel.
