About this artwork
The painting depicts a view of Piazza Antenore in the historic center of Padua. The presence of vestiges of the past, from Roman times to the Middle Ages and beyond, coexists with the radical transformations that occurred during the twentieth century. Despite everything, the spirit of the place endures, and I have attempted to bring it out through this unique selective focus. the work also a tribute to the Impressionist painter Gustave Caillebotte, who often depicted urban environments seen from boulevard balconies. The building on the right, whose long terrace and flags can be seen, is the headquarters of the Prefecture and the Province of Padua. The canvas is deep-edged and painted on the sides so it can be displayed without a frame.
