About this artwork
"Red 1" began as a meditation on pure color and its ability to evoke primal emotions. I work in subtle layers: glazes of white, black, and red overlap to create a central space that pulses with light.
For me, red is a mental territory, a threshold: intense, material, alive.
In this work, I sought a balance between depth and transparency, allowing the initial texture to barely emerge, like an underlying memory. The square format allows me to construct… a silent and concentrated, almost hypnotic composition.
Red 1 is a fragment of energy, a point of heat in space: an intimate and vibrant work, designed to dialogue with the gaze of the observer.
I'm a self-taught painter, and what sets me apart is my free and instinctive use of color, which in my work is layered to create dense textures and crowded urban landscapes. I began with more spontaneous and light-hearted works, then evolved towards a more conscious and critical approach. At the same time, I explore abstraction with works inspired by Pollock and Rothko. My Cities are born from abstract foundations. The City as a complex organism that reflects the contradictions of our time. My series explore three great fragilities: the vulnerability of cities to climate change, the wounds inflicted by man through wars and manipulated ideologies, and the inequalities between glittering centers and forgotten peripheries. I paint universal, non-geographic cities as a metaphor for the human condition: places that bear the hopes, scars, and tensions of our time.
