About this artwork
This painting was 1 of 5 chosen for set design for upcoming film, FOREIGN TONGUE,(director Boris Mojsovski)
A favourite painting spot, Tack Point, a short peninsula covered in giant, white and red pines. Wintertime elements make for incredible acoustic sound. The piles of shadowy snow banks and flanking frozen river, work together in creating a beautiful getaway. The tall pines seem to call out and encourage me to look up and join them in giving… thanks to their creator. The curious chickadee can’t help but to investigate my gear and me. An occasional skier or snowshoer treks by, usually never noticing me working. This plot of wilderness has a feel of a great cathedral. Even out in the sometimes challenging elements, wildlife and alone, I feel totally safe.
This is a studio work that was inspired by many, on site painted sketches
Sheila McGregor is a painter with a background in acrylics, printmaking, fibre arts, and design, honed through dedicated study, residencies, and mentorship under Jane Bonnell. She paints en plein air and in the studio, using gestural sketches with pre-mixed complimentary palettes for spontaneity, and richly layered studio works for luminosity. Her style fuses visual art with the language and rhythm of music, weaving nature’s grandeur and negative space rhythms into each piece. Sheila’s art radiates hope and beauty, offering viewers encouragement and comfort, especially for those navigating life’s challenges.
