About this artwork
This work is part of a series that rethinks landscape beyond a simple depiction of nature. Created on a circular canvas, each piece is built around three key elements: image, keyword, and title.
The image creates an emotional atmosphere, while the keyword introduces a conceptual layer. The title then provides context, opening a broader interpretation. Together, these elements form a subtle dialogue, inviting the viewer to look deeper.
In this piece,… the idea of a guiding star suggests direction, intuition, and an inner point of orientation — a role fulfilled here by the lighthouse and its beam of light. It is not shown literally, but felt through the composition and the dynamic sea. The viewer is encouraged to find their own meaning — whether it is a sense of hope, navigation, or quiet inner guidance.
The work balances visual calm with conceptual depth, offering both an immediate impression and a space for reflection.

Yaroslav Kurbanov is a painter, draftsman, and sculptor based in Germany whose paintings have been exhibited nationally, in Italy, Russia, Czechia, Finland, the United States, Mexico, China, and the Netherlands. His art attempts to answer the eternal questions of the origins of self, the meaning of one's life, and the essence of happiness and love. Kurbanov's compositions also explore loyalty and betrayal, fear and composure, as well as the discrepancies between the inner world and the external image.
