A woman with a crown of flaming red hair rests beside the massive, dark head of a bull — its bulk filling the upper left of the canvas, ancient and immovable. She is nude, seated, composed. Her eyes are half-closed. She is not confronting the beast. She is simply existing in its presence, undisturbed.
Power, is not domination. It is the capacity to sit beside the things that are supposed to frighten you… and remain, entirely, yourself. The bull does not own this painting. She does.

Alejandro Reyna is a Mexican muralist and painter with over 50 years of experience. A Master of Fine Arts from the National School of San Carlos, UNAM, his legacy can be seen in hospitals, airports, and government palaces throughout Mexico through 23 monumental murals.
He has conceived collections that inhabit their own conceptual universes: the human psyche and its emotions, pre-Hispanic mythology, the movement of the body, the tensions between opposites. His most celebrated work, "Aurum Nostrum," pays homage to the great masters of Western art, transmuting them into a profoundly contemporary language.
Academic realism with the soul of Magical Realism. Precise human figures inhabiting abstract and dreamlike spaces. His technique combines classical and contemporary styles, experimenting with gold, geometry, and color on a grand scale.
