About this artwork
A dancer leaps across open water at sunset, her fingertip touching the edge of a portal — a raw, vertical stroke of deep teal, its surface alive with a mandala of light. Behind her, the sea reflects the colours of dusk. She is mid-flight, mid-decision.
This painting was born from a dream in 2020, set aside, and completed in 2026. It does not belong to any series. It stands alone — the only painting I have made that came entirely from the inside… rather than from a photograph or a memory of a place.
The figure reaching toward the unknown, the portal that is both painted object and passageway, the stillness of the water against the movement of the leap — this is a painting about the moment just before something changes. Oil on canvas, 50 × 70 cm.
