About this artwork
It was an August night over the Gulf of Volos.
The sun had long since disappeared, but the world continued to shine – in the light of the rising full moon.
I stood on one of the slopes of Pelion, below me the dark sea, in front of me this red, almost unearthly moon.
The air was still. Only the gentle lapping of the waves in the bay below reminded us that the world kept turning.
In this picture, I am not interested in the documentary capture… of an astronomical event – but rather in the feeling of vastness, tranquility and the almost magical clarity that some nights carry within them.
The Gulf of Volos is a place full of myths.
That night it seemed as if he had told one of them himself – very quietly, in blue and red.
