About this artwork
This original painting and collage emerged instinctively, shaped by the residue of past wounds. Created to process a deeply personal relationship, it carries the weight of emotional fatigue - of being drained by what once demanded too much - yet it rests at the edge of renewal. At the heart of the figure, a personal item is embedded, marking the core of what was held and what was lost. The piece captures the moment of allowing a broken heart to remain… broken, to be seen and acknowledged, so that healing can begin. Though relationships can fracture and deplete us, this work speaks to endurance: the readiness to stand again, to gather strength, and to reconnect - even while carrying the marks of what has been endured.
Babette Hinterleitner is a self-taught painter, printmaker, digital and visual artist, drawing inspiration from her lifelong passion and self-directed studies. Her technique fuses the energetic storytelling of comics and manga with Alphonse Mucha’s fluid compositions and the minimalistic expressiveness of Chinese and Japanese ink styles. In her works, she explores unspoken emotions such as sadness, longing, and hope, creating visual narratives that invite viewers to feel seen, understood, and uplifted.
