About this artwork
This piece grew from the uncanny sense that a strange, ancient wisdom sometimes rises up within me - larger than my years, larger than anything I should logically know. There is a tingle at the back of my mind, as though some vast experience is watching from behind, its many eyes holding endless depth. I oscillate between awe and fear of what that presence carries, even as I sit in the quiet of the present moment.

Babette Hinterleitner is a self-taught painter, printmaker, digital and visual artist, drawing inspiration from her lifelong passion and self-directed studies. Her technique fuses the energetic storytelling of comics and manga with Alphonse Mucha’s fluid compositions and the minimalistic expressiveness of Chinese and Japanese ink styles. In her works, she explores unspoken emotions such as sadness, longing, and hope, creating visual narratives that invite viewers to feel seen, understood, and uplifted.
