I was caught by the patterns in the water and the contrasting forms of the oystercatchers.
Britain is home for 45% of Europe’s oystercatchers. They eat cockles and mussels: those with pointy beaks prize shells apart while those with blunter beaks punch holes in them. They are shy birds and well camouflaged so it is a treat to be able to study them up close.
