About this artwork
The colours and contrast between a calm bird in its element and a surging sea stirred me to paint. I was lucky to stand so close to watch it preen. The colour of the kestrel's feathers and the lichen on the rock glows in the sunshine. I love the contrast with the dark slate of the rock below.
