The Elephant is the great animal par excellence. It is the survivor of the now extinct giants that once inhabited the earth. Humans, out of their greed for ivory fangs and because they contend for their living space, do their utmost to make them extinguish as well. Its history has been intertwined with the human one for centuries and for this reason it is one of the most represented animals in iconography and art.
This White Elephant is a multiple… and is part of a series obtained with a mold. It was formed in white clay (earthenware) and then treated after firing in the oven with liquid wax which gives it - and it is a bit paradoxical since it is an elephant - ivory-colored reflections.
