The rhinoceros is one of the author's favorite animals, both for its warlike appearance, impressive but not corresponding to an aggressive nature, and for the fact that it is an animal persecuted by human stupidity. In certain areas of the world its horn is attributed aphrodisiac powers. It would be grotesque if it weren't tragic for human beings to kill a 2-ton rhinoceros to grind its horn from which to make magic potions. And so this monumental… animal risks being eliminated from the face of the earth. To make it even more monumental, the author placed this animal - which he created by modeling its shape in white clay, then making modules with a mold and finally coloured, after firing, with an acrylic glaze, on a large wooden base. It is not a realistic reconstruction of prehistoric rhinos but a work of fantasy, one of the various rhinos created by the author.
