About this artwork
I used woodprint techniques to create those rough, textured edges that frame the composition like an ancient seal or cosmic window.
The deep burgundies and slate blues blend and separate in horizontal bands, almost like geological strata or distant horizons.
There's something both earthly and celestial about how the colors interact - you can see sedimentary layers, but also nebulae and distant storms.
The white spaces aren't empty; they're breathing… room, allowing the saturated areas to pulse and resonate.
Working with the woodprint process added this beautiful unpredictability - those granular textures and broken edges that I could never achieve with brush alone.
The ink soaks differently into the carved surfaces, creating these organic patterns that feel both controlled and wild.
This piece represents my fascination with containment versus infinity - how a simple circle can become a portal, a planet, a cross-section of time itself.
