This piece explores the tension between containment and release - a dense, cosmic crescent heavy with deep blues and burgundies that seems to pulse with its own gravity, while delicate rays of light burst outward into white space. I was drawn to this almost celestial quality, like capturing an eclipse or the birth of a star.
The crescent holds all the weight and mystery - those mottled textures and color shifts create depth that feels infinite, studded… with points of light that could be stars or simply moments where the pigment caught the paper differently. Against this density, those radiating lines feel urgent and alive, reaching outward with varying intensities.
I love how the negative space becomes as important as the painted area - it's not empty but charged, like the moment between lightning and thunder. The contrast between the soft, bleeding edges of the crescent and the precise linear rays creates this dialogue between the organic and the geometric.
