About this artwork
This circle emerged from a more primal process - I worked the materials wet and rough, letting deep blues and burgundies bleed into each other while creating this broken, weathered ring. The texture feels almost archaeological, like something excavated from ancient earth or formed by natural erosion over centuries.
What fascinates me is how the imperfect circle holds such power - those ragged edges and granular… textures create a sense of time and decay that feels both destructive and regenerative. The way colors shift from deep navy to rust to charcoal around the circumference suggests geological processes, like mineral deposits or oxidation.
The central void becomes charged with potential - it's not empty space but a presence defined by absence. The scattered textures and bleeding edges make the boundary between inside and outside feel permeable, alive.
