About this artwork
In this work, I explore the fragile territory between vulnerability and inner refuge. I was drawn to the universal human need for safety — that instinctive desire to hold onto something that offers comfort when the world feels uncertain.
The figure exists in a suspended emotional state, somewhere between surrender and protection. By embracing the soft, almost weightless fabric, she creates a private sanctuary, a silent space detached from external… reality. I wanted the gesture itself to become the emotional center of the composition: an act of seeking warmth, memory, and reassurance.
The restrained palette and delicate transitions of light emphasize stillness and intimacy. For me, this painting reflects the quiet moments in which strength is not found in action, but in allowing oneself tenderness — reminding us that vulnerability can itself become a form of resilience.

Denys Molerio is a Cuban painter with a strong academic background, working primarily in figurative painting to investigate identity and human nature. He masterfully combines realism, symbolism, and subtle surrealist touches, using layered compositions and muted palettes to create atmospheres charged with introspection. His work evokes emotional depth, highlighting vulnerability, alienation, and the invisible battles within the human psyche, inspiring viewers to explore the complexities beneath the surface of self.
Graduated with honors from San Alejandro Academy of Fine Arts and Institute Superior of Arts (ISA) in Havana. A member of the Cuban National Union of Visual Artists. Participant in the international (X and XI) Biennale in Havana with his own exhibitions “ Arquitectura de la Vida” in 2009 and personal show “ Habits” in 2012. Many national and international exhibitions; e.g “Living room of Southeast “ Lyon, France in the “Gallery Maison Dauphins” Lyon, France.
