About this artwork
In this work, I explore the fragile space between presence and disappearance, where identity exists in a constant state of transformation. I am interested in capturing not only the human figure, but also the invisible emotional and psychological forces that shape our inner reality.
The portrait emerges through layers of fluid, fragmented forms that partially conceal and dissolve the face, creating tension between clarity and uncertainty. I intentionally… blur the boundary between body and atmosphere, allowing the figure to feel unfinished, vulnerable, and in motion.
For me, this painting reflects the instability of human identity — the idea that we are continuously shaped by memory, emotion, and change. Rather than depicting a person, I attempt to visualize the delicate process of becoming.

Denys Molerio is a Cuban painter with a strong academic background, working primarily in figurative painting to investigate identity and human nature. He masterfully combines realism, symbolism, and subtle surrealist touches, using layered compositions and muted palettes to create atmospheres charged with introspection. His work evokes emotional depth, highlighting vulnerability, alienation, and the invisible battles within the human psyche, inspiring viewers to explore the complexities beneath the surface of self.
Graduated with honors from San Alejandro Academy of Fine Arts and Institute Superior of Arts (ISA) in Havana. A member of the Cuban National Union of Visual Artists. Participant in the international (X and XI) Biennale in Havana with his own exhibitions “ Arquitectura de la Vida” in 2009 and personal show “ Habits” in 2012. Many national and international exhibitions; e.g “Living room of Southeast “ Lyon, France in the “Gallery Maison Dauphins” Lyon, France.
