The element of the composition - diagonal cut running through the face is not a simple destruction—it's a psychological fissure or a moment of transformation. The paint becomes almost organic here: reliefs, cracks, and thick textures create… a sense of wound, but also the birth of a new form.
The role of the hands is important but not aggressive—rather, they gently reveal or support the crumbling structure of the face. They can be read as an attempt to preserve one's identity, to control decay, or to extricate oneself from beneath layers of memory and emotion.
Formally this painting balances between: figuration and abstraction. Concurrently I implemented a little sculptural treatment of the surface.
