About this artwork
In this painting, I wanted to capture the warmth of a non-place: a secluded room in the Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna, where one can sit, eat, or have a drink. After a visit that overwhelms the eyes, this place becomes an undefined, almost non-existent space, where one can mentally process the connections and emotions evoked by everything one has seen.
Our saturated eyes take a break so they can then start again and fill up anew.
In this work,… some spaces are left empty, revealing the canvas, while others are richer, constructed like a tapestry by layering brushstrokes one on top of the other. A slow and meticulous process, these vibrant touches and strong contrasts create an atmosphere where time seems suspended.
I invite you to feel the light in every corner, like an invitation to explore the very soul of this space animated by shadows and colors.
