About this artwork
When my nephew was small we bought a large box of LEGOS and built a ship. At the end of the day, we were missing one small LEGO. He was baffled by this. I saw him struggle with how to process the fact that despite what he did, this ship was missing a piece and would remain incomplete. Years later I found the missing LEGO; it had wedged itself into a small space between the floor and wall under a bookcase, where it fit perfectly. Finding that…
missing piece immediately brought me back to that day, building a ship and looking for a missing piece, with that beautiful boy.
