About this artwork
This piece has both the obverse and reverse of the same sculpted image. I used it to create the illusion of a reflection in water. Because the obverse is raised, it reflects light and paint much differently then the reverse, which looks carved out. With oil, casein and goauche paint, I tried to portray a mist on the water. The idea of a nymph in the tree enhanced the idea the mysterious and beautiful natural world. The nymph is stylized and a…
