About this artwork
The painting “Breath” (acrylic on canvas, 35 × 35 cm, 2025) is part of the “Bow” series, which explores the relationship between body and emotion, tension and delicacy. It examines the fragile balance between tension and release — the breath as a boundary between body and inner life. Through layers of warm, vibrant color, vulnerability and strength meet in a single gesture. The figure appears to both fall and float, suspended in a moment of stillness.… The work reflects the emotional depth of existence and invites silent contemplation.
Ewa Mazur-Koj is a versatile artist who grew up in Poland and has lived in Germany since 2004. She primarily works with acrylic, oil and mixed media. Her fluid techniques mix realism and abstraction, with people often at the center of her work. Her metaphorically rich works focus on the individual, whose feelings and vulnerability are permeated by a subtle eroticism. They are the visual expression of an indescribable world of thought. Colors and lines form her own wordless visual language and permeate the core message of her art.
