About this artwork
The reflection of grasses and rushes on the surface of a Krka pond transforms a detail of the landscape into an almost abstract composition. The stems distort in the water, intersecting and overlapping, while the shades of blue and green create a soft and shifting atmosphere.
I wanted to capture that moment when the real subject fades away, giving way to the lines and forms it produces in its reflection. Water then becomes a space of transformation,… where the observation of nature leads almost naturally towards abstraction.
The drawing is made on 140µm polyester film measuring 65x50cm, using wax crayons.

Florence Ehrlich-Haimet is a self-taught painter who works primarily with wax-based colored pencils on polyester film. Her work is inspired by a formative studio experience in the United States and a stay in Japan. She merges figuration and abstraction, layering luminous colors and textures to achieve a balance between meticulous observation and expressive graphic forms. Fascinated by reflections and the boundaries between the natural and the artificial, her work evokes wonder and attention. It invites the viewer to contemplate, rediscover the familiar, and meditate on the fragile beauty of life. https://www.instagram.com/florencehe91/
