About this artwork
Realistic work on the minerality of stones and their raw beauty, following a hike in the Caroux massif in my region.
Painted with a brush for the backgrounds + dripping sprays to recompose the grain of the stones (shades of gray-blue) and their assembly in a mineral puzzle.
The painting is made up of two main parts: the stone part and the earth part with its greenery (= the hiking trail).
I wanted to express the raw strength of Nature and its… beauty, knowing that they are millions of years old, worn down by erosion.
On the occasion of a hike: This is why I included my hiking shoe in the lower left corner of the painting. It is a sort of wink from a hiker to whoever will look at the painting next and it brings a touch of humanity to this mineral, geological painting.
Inspired since his childhood by the beauty of Nature, colors and drawing, François d'Ardailhon became a painter using acrylic in figurative after thirty years of experience in oil abstraction. Adopting techniques such as pouring and dripping, he developed a "bio-organic" style simulating the sublime textures and colors of nature. His works celebrate the precious and threatened essence of nature, creating a soothing universe because it is connected to ourselves.
