About this artwork
Realistic work on the minerality of stones and their raw beauty.
Painted with a brush + pouring drips.
Mineral puzzle assembled from different stones that nature would have composed (colors, shapes, aspects) forming a coherent, balanced whole.
The largest stone (red and yellow) is at the center of the composition like a pivot and the other stones gravitate around it.
Working on stones, large, medium and small, I wanted to express the raw force… of Nature, knowing that they are millions of years old and worn by erosion since then and they look at us.
Following a hike in the Caroux massif in my region, this is why I included the corner of my book / hiking guide in the lower left corner of the painting. It is a sort of wink from a hiker to whoever will look at the painting later and it brings a touch of humanity to this very mineral, geological painting.
Inspired since his childhood by the beauty of Nature, colors and drawing, François d'Ardailhon became a painter using acrylic in figurative after thirty years of experience in oil abstraction. Adopting techniques such as pouring and dripping, he developed a "bio-organic" style simulating the sublime textures and colors of nature. His works celebrate the precious and threatened essence of nature, creating a soothing universe because it is connected to ourselves.
