About this artwork
This head was created over a period of three years. It was already clear to the artist in 2017 that the series of these heads could be expanded. However, they take a lot of time. As is often the case with paintings by Frank Pieperhoff, this head was in good condition.
A strong maturation process can be seen in this work, because the color here acquires a deep emotional – spiritual meaning. The colors also magically attract the eye. Through these… colors and in sight, the colors transform into an intense expression of a person. The image itself becomes a person. It looks like a human being who is actually present. Through the dense painting, this person appears again and again. He is very definite in his expression and yet he remains hidden under the strong brushstrokes.

Frank Pieperhoff is an experienced painter, draftsman, and sculptor based in Germany whose works have been exhibited nationally, as well as in the Netherlands, Poland, and North Macedonia. The founder of the KUNSTGUT Academy of Fine Arts in Berlin, his diverse works are divide into two distinctive themes: human existence and color. In his artistic process, Pieperhoff fuses modern and classic techniques with oils and acrylics on canvas or fabric.
