Appearances
I work intuitively with molten wax, layering, and movement. In Appearances, flowing red, orange, and black forms give rise to traces of energy, light, and transformation. Beneath the surface, warm yellow tones glow like hidden embers.
During the work process, forms develop that appear both physical and elusive. For me, the image oscillates between visibility and dissolution – between what emerges and what eludes direct observation.…
The spontaneous movements of the hot wax create a vibrant tension between density and openness. Thus, Appearances became a work about perception, change, and the fleeting nature of the visible.
The work was created in 2025 and presented in Milan at the ArteMida Gallery in the exhibition When They See Us.

Ingeborg Ludwig, with a solid background in art, primarily uses encaustic, a hot wax technique, and acrylic painting. Her style is process-oriented, abstract, and strongly material-based, characterized by calming organic forms, seamless transitions, and multi-layered surfaces. Her artworks explore the invisible world of emotions and inner landscapes, inviting the viewer on an introspective journey to free themselves from the hustle and bustle of the external world. She addresses realms of change and resonance in a quiet, intuitive way to convey deep, moving emotional states.
