About this artwork
In the work I represent the garden of the Sorolla Museum in Madrid (Spain). This is what was the house of the Spanish painter Joaquín Sorolla, where the decoration that the artist had during his life is preserved. The canvas shows a part of the garden that borders the house, where you can see the garden inspired by the Generalife of Granada, in a neo-Arabic style adorned with vibrant tiles, with a pond where the light plays with the water, creating… dancing reflections and evoking timeless beauty that invites reflection. In the background you can see the Troy Garden of the Alcázar of Seville.
The painting arises from "au plein air" sketches and photographs taken in situ, to create the work in the studio. I seek to transport those who observe to a space of calm and harmony, with the tranquility and elegance of an eternal garden.
Signed in the central right part on one of the tiles.
Oil on 100% cotton canvas, prepared by hand and stretched in an artisanal way on a stretcher.
