About this artwork
The symbolism of this work is inspired by the spiritual meaning coming from the Bonsai culture. In the painting, the delicacy of oriental art and the thoroughness of hyperrealism come together to invoke a moment of ethereal harmony, the majesty of life and its subtleties.
The title refers to the popular story of the squirrel that could cross the Iberian Peninsula from North to South, jumping from branch to branch, without touching the ground. The… painting shows two common squirrels (Sciurus vulgaris) balancing on a bonsai tree. The figurative and symbolic representation of biodiversity is intertwined with realism, celebrating natural harmony and the intrinsic connection between all living beings.
