About this artwork
The symbolism of this work is inspired by the spiritual meaning coming from the Bonsai culture. In the painting, the delicacy of oriental art and the thoroughness of hyperrealism come together to invoke a moment of ethereal harmony.
The work represents a pair of Japanese Spectacles (Zosterops japonicus), perched on the branch of a cherry blossom tree. The interplay of light and shadow celebrates the ephemeral beauty of sakura, with the birds symbolizing… the delicacy and effervescence of life. Each stroke is a whisper of passion and visual poetry, inviting reflection and admiration.
Oil on hand-prepared board. I wanted the natural texture and color properties offered by the wood grain to form an integral part of the pictorial composition.
