About this artwork
Inspired by photos of desert dunes as I fantasized about traveling during the pandemic. I loved the simplicity of the shapes and how light transitions over the textures of the sand dunes.
I chose PanPastels for the transitional textures because their extra soft smoothness on the sanded paper allowed me to create the gradient tones of light over the ethereal shapes of shifting sand dunes, constantly changing, never static.
Titled "Dunes", a 12"… x 9" unframed pastel using PanPastels and alcohol wash on Colourfix paper.
