This is the first in a short series of 3 48"x60" works dedicated to the Venice Biennale.
One of the first goals I set as a young artist in the 90s was to show at and/or attend the Venice Biennale. I learned about the show in my first year of art school via an old Art in America magazine laying around… the school studios. To me it was (and still is) the greatest showing of work in the most historically romantic and fantastical location on the planet, and to date I have been fortunate enough to both visit and show...exploring the Biennale for 10 magical days in 2011 and then showing in 2013 with a group sponsored by the Luciano Benetton Collection and Library Street Gallery in Detroit. The experience was purely magical, and I hope to go back...

Jon Parlangeli is a passionate American painter and sculptor who has widely exhibited his work throughout the U.S. Fascinated by the process of creation, he composes works that experiment with color and the physicality of paint.
