About this artwork
Centuries ago, farmers in Piedmont (Italy) surrounded their gardens with a dry stone wall. Hand-cut rock slabs were placed over the entrance. This crooked wooden door made of rough boards no longer prevents access.
It is inviting - not only to people, but also to nature: an ivy plant grows skywards on the roof tiles. Tendrils wind their way, and a particularly strong one seems to have allied itself with a field bindweed.
This falls from the right… side of the picture, exuding leaves, flowers and tendrils, into the foreground. We look at the flowers, into them, and admire the "jump" of a bud. A decidedly graphic design that fascinates with the contrast between prehistoric stones and transparent flowers.
