About this artwork
Like all alpine lakes, "Lago Maggiore" (Italy) has many faces. Just as it is not always the mirror-smooth lake of the postcard, it can be completely transformed by winds and fog.
In this picture we experience the lake in a mysterious representation in a light haze. Restrained forms, muted colors, but the azzurro of the sky points to an unobstructed view.
The beauty of an iris shines untouched in front of this moving event on the lake. She rises… sharply to the vertical, dynamically above the still horizontal of the lake. Their powerful colors seem to break through the Lago haze.
The strong contrast becomes the dynamism of this picture.
