About this artwork
The Lombardy shore of Lake Maggiore (Italy). The late afternoon paints the shore mountains in nighttime colors. The Rocca di Caldé appears in dark blue to the left, and the Borromean Gulf opens up to the right. This flattening landscape is still bathed in sunlight.
But the pale full moon already announces its dominion. It is only perceptible through the white of the paper. The lake itself is smooth as a mirror.
What catches the eye, however,… is the impressive branch of a "Camelia Élégance," swinging protectively over the lake. It proudly bears three magnificently open blossoms—a symbol of Lake Maggiore.
« Vanitas resonates in the allegria about the beauty of creation. This calls for striving to preserve the unique creation with gratitude and humility! »
Karin Steffek-Moravia has received major international awards and attracted considerable attention with her exhibitions worldwide. In addition to exploring socio-political issues, particularly environmental protection, she creates "hymns to the beauty of creation" with her transparent, watercolor-based pencil and colored pencil drawings. Steffek-Moravia also skillfully explores spiritual and mystical themes, blending yesterday and today into a compelling harmony.
