About this artwork
In this painting, I attempted to visualize the movement of a whirlpool—that moment when forces from different directions are drawn toward a common, rotating center. I was inspired by natural phenomena: water circling a drain, or wind blowing sand in a circular motion, leaving a visible, energetic trail.
The center of the painting forms the center of this dynamic—a condensed, intense spot where the color fragments appear to be gathered together.… From there, the remnants spread out in all directions, dissipate, become lighter, finer, almost fleeting.
I work with dried paint residues—a material whose complexity and irregularity make it ideal for visualizing movement and structure. In this work, I wanted to demonstrate how an essentially static medium can come alive through arrangement, density, and rhythm.
An expression of movement in stillness
