About this artwork
In this work, I deliberately approached the color red—not in a striking or symbolic way, but rather in its refracted, understated, almost earthy form. Reddish, warm, multifaceted.
What particularly interested me about this work was the possibility of creating an almost monochrome impression—while still achieving incredible visual depth. The many layers of color, which I used here in a fragmented form, create a vibrant shimmer when viewed up close.…
Seen from a distance, the work appears calm, almost meditative. But upon closer inspection, a world of tiny color particles unfolds, seemingly randomly but in reality very deliberately interwoven into a dense surface.
I find this painting restrained yet powerful. "Campanile de Mars CXXIV" is, for me, an example of how reduced color can still create great complexity and tension.
