About this artwork
In "Field of Mars CXXXI," I formed leftover paint into a precise circle that stands out clearly from the surrounding field. This crater motif continues to draw me—for me, it's a symbol of change, impact, and memory.
I work exclusively with paint chips from my previous works. No pigments, no sand—just remnants of real painting. I break these fragments, sift them, and place them in new contexts. The picture surface thus becomes a geological structure,… a color archive that carries the stories of previous works.
The crater in the center appears empty—yet full of meaning. A small stillness in the multi-toned field of color. For me, a powerful moment of reduction and pause.
