Rare Squirrel IV – Movement between Line and Color
In "Rare Squirrel IV" (oil on canvas, 40x30 cm, 2025) I am particularly interested in the interplay between free color areas and sketchy lines. I did not want to define the motif clearly, but rather keep it in a state of becoming and disappearing - as if the squirrel were only visible for a moment before it dissolved again.
The bright yellow and green tones, combined with fine, suggested strokes,… create a tension between representational form and open composition. The visible artist's palette, which is integrated into the picture, is reminiscent of the creative process - the immediate energy with which colors are applied, mixed and changed.
For me, this work is a reflection on the fleeting, the playful, that which exists between light and shadow. The squirrel is present and yet intangible - a moment that is being reshaped.
