About this artwork
This landscape depicts a scene from the Southford Falls State Park in Southbury CT. A late spring warm day drew a dozen painters from the Connecticut Plein Air Painters Society (CPAPS) to the park for a day-long paint-out in May 2021. I chose a picturesque perch on a huge boulder overlooking the falls and got to work about 9:00 am. By noon, I'd completed my painting and packed up for the hour-long drive back home.
This is a signed original oil painting… by Mark Laurence LaRiviere on a canvas-covered gatorboard panel. The panel was coated with three layers of Gesso and sanded to a smooth surface.
Choose the framed version, and the painting arrives ready to hang right out of the box.
Signed by the artist. Includes certificate of authenticity.
My artistic practice is the result of a lifelong dialogue with visual structure. After graduating from RISD and spending over three decades as a Design Director for institutions like Harry N. Abrams, Oxford University Press, and Random House, I understand the mechanics of any image—composition, balance, and the hierarchy of visual information.
For my digital print-on-demand works, I maintain a strict 'Studio Stopover' protocol to ensure museum-grade quality. Unlike standard print-on-demand services, these pieces are first shipped to my Connecticut studio for personal inspection.
Each work is examined for color fidelity, hand-signed, and numbered by me personally. I then assemble a custom 'Care Kit' for the collector, including a detailed explanation of the work and a Certificate of Authenticity.
This meticulous process adds approximately 7–10 days to the delivery timeline, but it ensures that the work you receive meets the highest professional standards of the fine art market.
