Acrylic, Plaster, Epoxy Resin, and Mixed Media on Panel
A solitary iceberg rises from a luminous turquoise sea, revealing only a fraction of its true form. Beneath the surface, layers of sculptural texture, deep blues, and translucent epoxy resin create the impression of immense hidden depth.
Inspired by Marni Spencer-Devlin's book The Iceberg Principles, this work explores the idea that what we see is only a small part of reality. Just as most of… an iceberg exists below the waterline, the forces that shape our lives often remain unseen. Modern cosmology suggests that only a tiny percentage of the universe is visible, while the vast majority exists beyond direct observation.
The contrast between the brilliant ocean tones and the reflective black background evokes both the depths of the sea and the mystery of the cosmos, inviting viewers to contemplate the unseen structures that lie beneath every visible surface.
I was born in Germany and now divide my time between California’s Sequoia National Forest and the rolling hills of Umbria, Italy. I have been creating for as long as I can remember and was rarely without a pencil, crayon, or paintbrush in my hand as a child. Although life eventually led me to build and run a successful company and later become an author, creativity has always been my true north. After decades of writing about authenticity, healing, and personal transformation, I now explore many of the same themes through art. One of my greatest joys has been opening my own studio and gallery in California, where I create large-scale mixed-media works using plaster, paint, epoxy, glass, and found materials. I believe art is more than decoration—it has the power to influence how we feel, think, and experience the spaces around us. My goal is to create work that brings beauty, joy, and a sense of possibility into people's lives.
