About this artwork
Umbria invites the viewer into the quiet rhythm of the Italian countryside, where golden light, rolling hills, olive groves, vineyards, and sunflower fields have inspired artists and dreamers for centuries. Rich layers of acrylic and industrial compounds create a sculptural surface that captures the region's texture and character, transforming the canvas into something that feels both painted and unearthed.
Rather than depicting a specific landscape,… the work expresses the essence of Umbria—its warmth, history, and enduring spirit. Light seems to emerge from beneath the textured surface, revealing subtle variations that change with every shift in perspective. The result is a contemporary abstract that balances strength with serenity, inviting the viewer to slow down, explore, and discover something new with each encounter.

I was born in Germany and now divide my time between California’s Sequoia National Forest and the rolling hills of Umbria, Italy. I have been creating for as long as I can remember and was rarely without a pencil, crayon, or paintbrush in my hand as a child. Although life eventually led me to build and run a successful company and later become an author, creativity has always been my true north. After decades of writing about authenticity, healing, and personal transformation, I now explore many of the same themes through art. One of my greatest joys has been opening my own studio and gallery in California, where I create large-scale mixed-media works using plaster, paint, epoxy, glass, and found materials. I believe art is more than decoration—it has the power to influence how we feel, think, and experience the spaces around us. My goal is to create work that brings beauty, joy, and a sense of possibility into people's lives.
