About this artwork
Nearly 10 years ago I walked past this scene in England and stopped. It was the blue that did it - deep and still, framed by the pale stone wall and the wild ivy hanging above. I photographed it because I had too and I knew that one day I would paint it and one day finally came. The blue is perhaps deeper than it was then - memory has a way of intensifying what moves us. It s is painted on archival paper but will be glued to a stretched canvas and…
framed, if requested.

United Kingdom
Maureen Connolly is a painter and visual artist whose lifelong, non-linear art education spans formal study, self-directed exploration, and a deep commitment to mixed media, including oil, watercolour, acrylic, ink, and charcoal. Her intuitive, fluid technique weaves together plein air landscapes, layered abstraction, and mark-making, blurring boundaries between figuration and abstraction. Her work resonates with themes of nature’s necessity and feminine experience, conveying profound restoration, grace, and the deeply felt truth that she is part of the living world she paints.
