About this artwork
The past of the present presents an isolated Andean village, almost lost in the immensity of the altiplano. The stone and thatch dwellings, although simple, still bear the traces of a bygone era, frozen in a declining present. The background is dominated by the majestic and immutable snow-capped mountains, while the arid ground, dotted with tufts of grass, accentuates the impression of solitude of this place. The scene, bathed in a soft light filtering…
through the clouds, seems suspended between two times: that of the past, embodied by the ruins of the huts, and that of the present, where silence dominates this almost unreal landscape. It is a place where the past merges with the present, a moment where the vestiges of the past coexist with the reality of today. This village, which I discovered in the heart of the altiplano, made me reflect on the passage of time and the way in which certain civilizations have disappeared, leaving behind discreet but powerful traces.
