About this artwork
This 16" x 20" acrylic painting captures the essence of artistic creation through the lens of Cubism.
The fragmented nature of the background extends to the artist himself. His form is a puzzle of geometric blocks, each one suggesting a different plane or angle. This fractured portrayal emphasizes the act of creation itself, where the artist observes, dissects, and reassembles the world around them on the canvas.
Despite the deconstruction, the artist's… focus is clear. His gaze is fixed the canvas, his hand reaching out to add the final stroke. The energy of creation pulsates through the fragmented forms, conveying the artist's deep absorption in the creative process.

Born in Alexandria, Egypt, Nagui's passion for painting blossomed during his college years. While pursuing his medical degree, he concurrently enrolled in the independent fine art study program at the University of Alexandria Atelier. This dual pursuit of art and medicine would profoundly shape his artistic perspective.
His early work quickly gained recognition. In 1973, he held his inaugural solo exhibition at the University Physician's Club, followed by another in 1975 at the prestigious French Cultural Center in Alexandria.
Upon immigrating to the United States, Nagui embarked on a career in psychiatry, a profession he believes has significantly influenced his approach to painting.
Artistic Practice: Nagui maintains a prolific output, annually producing a substantial body of work that includes medium and large-size paintings, alongside numerous smaller pieces and drawings.
