About this artwork
Some moments exist in between — suspended, weightless, neither arriving nor departing. These are the moments I find most honest. Most alive.
The stag stands in that space.
He is not fleeing. He is not charging forward. He simply is — held in the stillness of golden wings that have not yet decided whether to open. Around him, clouds move slowly. Light arrives without urgency. Time, for once, does not press.
I painted this from a feeling I return to… often: that the most profound transformations don't announce themselves. They gather quietly in the pauses between decisions, in the breath before the word, in the silence after the door closes.
We spend so much of our lives rushing through intervals — treating them as empty space between the things that matter.
But what if the interval is exactly where everything happens?
What if the stag knows something we keep forgetting?
Stillness is not the absence of movement.
It is movement, learning to trust itself.
