About this artwork
This painting has been part of my private collection for several years. It has always been one of my personal favorites, which is why I held on to it for so long. Now, however, I feel it's ready to find a new home where it can continue its story.
In The Quiet Bloom, I wanted to capture that delicate yet powerful moment when growth happens quietly, almost unnoticed. The downward gaze suggests reflection, while the warm reds in the hair and the soft… touches of light speak of vitality, hope, and inner strength.
Through loose brushstrokes and intentionally omitted details, I invite the viewer to complete the story in their own way. This is not a portrait of one specific person, but a reminder of a feeling many of us know: that even in periods of rest, uncertainty, or silence, something beautiful continues to grow within us.

Nicole Schellekens, working under the name Nicole S. Pousset, (after my grandfather) is a Belgian painter with a background in graphic design, now based in Antwerp.
She paints with expressive, loose brushwork, blending figuration and suggestion to capture people in motion, illuminated by delicate contrasts of light and shadow.
Embracing simplicity and emotional depth, her style reflects influences from Rembrandt to Rubens while inviting viewers to pause and reflect. Her art radiates optimism, tenderness, and the quiet beauty of human connection, offering a gentle counterbalance to the heaviness of modern life.
Her paintings can now be found in both private and public collections. Today, her work is represented by several galleries in Belgium and abroad. Earlier this year, the Dutch magazine Ariadne at Home described her work as “Little moments of happiness on large canvases”
